What is ACAT?

THE AMERICAN CENTER FOR THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE, INC.®

Founded in New York City in 1964, the American Center for the Alexander Technique has taken a leading role in the development of the Alexander Technique in the United States:
  • through its Teacher Certification Program, which has certified over 200 persons, a group comprising over one-third of the country’s Alexander teaching population
  • through its thirty years of service to the public as an information, resource, and referral center
  • through its ongoing commitment to the standards and ideals of the Alexander Technique
The Teacher Certification Program of the American Center is licensed by the NY State Bureau of Proprietary Schools and is also an approved training course of the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT).

Contributions to the American Center for the Alexander Technique, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation, are welcomed and are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
